Why Young Men Shouldn’t Worry About Being Drafted for World War III

With President Donald Trump hinting at possible military action against Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria, many young Americans (including those who voted for him) are understandably terrified.

After all, Trump campaigned on a relatively nationalist platform. For many, “America First!” meant prioritizing interests in the homeland, rather than dumping endless amounts of blood and treasure into conflicts abroad. At least for a while, Trump’s foreign policy rhetoric seemed to mirror the likes of libertarians like Senator Rand Paul.

While a portion of Trump’s base definitely feels appalled and perhaps even betrayed — would-be combatants might not have to fret. After all, it’s 2018 — and that means your gender is whatever you say it is.

In the past, young men had to come up with pretty good excuses to avoid being shipped to Vietnam, Normandy, or Korea. Trump himself is rumored to be among those people. Now, it’s easier than ever — just tell the recruiter that you’re a woman, and unsuitable for combat roles.

Now, this post is not meant to discourage young Americans from doing their civic duty. It does, however, underscore the hilarity of the mainstream culture, and how attitudes towards gender have become patently unscientific.
