This is something we’re still scratching our heads over. Perhaps the illustrious and enlightened Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can clear this up for us. After all, without her unfettered wisdom, we would have no idea that immigrant women were being forced to drink water out of the toilet — which has been proven false.
Let’s take AOC and the rest of “The Squad” at their word for a second — as painful as that is. Let’s assume that the migrant detention centers, which provide captured illegals with food, shelter, water, and even modern recreation, really are the hellholes they say that they are. Why in the world are people voluntarily living in them? And, perhaps more pressingly, why aren’t they simply leaving to go back to their own countries? They are, after all, completely free to do so.
The truth is that these are not the Nazi death camps leftists seem to think that they are. Sure enough, they aren’t exactly vacation resorts either — you have Democrats to thank for that. Obstructionist lawmakers in Congress still refuse to work with Republicans and the White House to simply fund the detention centers, so many migrants have been forced to share beds and live under tougher conditions than they have to.
The solution to this problem is painfully simple: fund the damn border. Encourage people to migrate the legal way. That is the easiest way to rid the country of these apocalyptic death camps you hate so much.
