When You Have No Idea What Treason Is…

If we’re to be intellectually honest, memes like this are really the Trump family’s doing. Staging meetings with unvetted foreign nationals doesn’t look good in headlines, especially when they yield no results.

However, the failings of Donald Trump, Jr. and other top Trump campaign officials don’t make the meme to the left any less false. Whether or not there was more to Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer is irrelevant – it is literally impossible for him or anyone else at this time to be tried for treason.

If liberals actually took a few minutes to read the U.S. Constitution, they would understand this. Since they typically don’t, we’ve included the founding document’s grounds for treason below:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

To clarify, this means that the only way for Don Jr. to be tried with treason was if America was formally at war with Russia – which it’s not.

Then again, a massive conflict with the Kremlin appears to be the Democrats’ end game lately. Hopefully, such a tragedy does not come to pass.
