We Found an HONEST Logo for Communism!

If you haven’t been to a Five Guys restaurant before, you’re in for a treat. While it’s certainly a bit more pricey than most casual burger joints, you won’t think that the chain is entirely out of line for charging what it does when you take a bite out of one of their burgers.

Now, with their logo re-imagined to include the cardinal saints of Communism, we have to take a step back. Featured here are Karl Marx, Fredrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Se Tung. Like the other Five Guys, these gents were also in charge of feeding a bunch of people — and charging a hefty price. The biggest difference is that they were terrible at it, and a bunch of people either starved or were killed in the process.

Communist China’s Chairman Mao is perhaps the worst offender, with death toll estimates taken from the so-called “Great Leap Forward” sometimes exceeding 90 million people. The Soviet Union’s Joseph Stalin pulls in at second place, with deaths from the Holodomor and other atrocities amounting to at least 20 million. Yes, communism killed as many as 100 million people in under a century.

So, remember: when you see people advocating for the nationalization of industries, centrally planned economies, or perhaps even one-party states, this is the ideology they are rooting for.
