Wait, Shouldn’t This Girl Be in School?

Teenage Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg became one of the most popular leftists of 2019 when her passionate speech about climate change at the United Nations went viral. Everyone who was being honest with themselves understood that she was basically cloning her own parents’ political activism, but progressives had a symbol to rally around for a time. You see, climate change is going around murdering people in their sleep, and it will get you next if you don’t listen to this innocent child…

Yea, we got over it pretty quickly. And, also sure: we accept that plenty of memers probably went too far in responding to her. After all, she is 16-years-old — maybe mocking her appearance or mental disability on the internet for all to see is a bit much. But now, we have no choice: she’s floating around in a boat of luxury — all after she told us how bad it was that she can’t go to school because of her commitment to climate activism.

If her own social media is any indication, Greta lives a pretty privileged life: and more power to her for that. But maybe, just maybe this teenage girl who happens to have very politically active parents was exaggerating when she said we all “stole her childhood.”

Just a thought…
