This is What Sets Trump Apart From Every Republican

If you went out on the street right now and asked random strangers who the most hated person in the United States is, you’ll probably get a pretty consistent answer.

Many Americans have trouble remembering the last time it seemed like the President of the United States was this universally hated — at least in the media. But, this is not a Trumpian phenomenon — every Republican to take the White House has at some point been the most hated person in the country.

We don’t need to go to far back down memory lane to remember how former President George W. Bush was routinely depicted as some type of neo-fascist hellbent on turning America into a late-Roman Empire-style war machine.

But, there is one thing that certainly sets Trump apart from his Republican predecessors — he fights back.

While it’s certainly true that the president’s social media tendencies are at times questionable, he is effectively using his platform to create the first real counter-narrative to the mainstream media. Not only has this allowed the president to continue pursuing good policy — it’s actually distracted his critics away from scrutinizing his actual initiatives.
