The Template for Every Liberal Meme Ever Made

If you were casually scrolling through your social media feed, this image would likely not seem at all out of place — that is, until you read the text.

This meme, provided to us by the fantastic satirists over at Occupy Democrats Logic on Facebook, explains exactly how leftist memes are implicitly formulaic in nature. In the instance of comparing President Donald Trump to whomever is popular with the Democratic left that particular week (think Cory Booker), the choice of which pictures to use is definitely no accident.

Liberal memes involving Trump almost always use a picture taken while the president is speaking — a tactic that can yield awkward results for just about anyone. Left-wing icons, by contrast, are given a far more photogenic treatment. While Jimmy Carter is the example used in this image, we routinely see the same thing with Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and various others.

If you’re in the mood to cringe, go ahead and visit some left-leaning Facebook page (Occupy Democrats and The Other 98% are probably the best examples), and count how many images you see that follow this formula.
