The Real Victims of Radical Islam

What we see in this image is a harsh reality too many are afraid to admit — and their silence is starting to turn deadly.

When the brutality of radical Islamic terrorism touches the West, we follow a tried and predictable formula. First come the “thoughts and prayers,” which are often coupled with cheap signs of solidarity with the victims. This is inevitably followed by the “this wasn’t real Islam” discussion.

Despite the alarming death tolls, such events remain an anomaly in the civilized world. This doesn’t seem to be the case where radical Islam isn’t exactly a fringe outlook.

Here, we see a perfect representation of the real victims of this unchecked, deadly philosophy. While moderate Muslims have largely welcomed Western traditions such as freedom of expression and equality under the law, their radical counterparts have not. This is a big part of the reason why the vast majority of the victims killed by the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations have been other Muslims.

If the left wants to continue suggesting that it is somehow racist to protect the secular West from religious extremism, maybe they’ll begin to listen when we point out that Muslims themselves are hurting more than anyone else.
