The Left is Already Back to Hating McCain Again

It was less than a week ago when left-wing memers were busying themselves with extolling praise for moderate Republican Senator John McCain – mainly for the Arizona lawmaker’s role in spearheading the investigation into the president’s ties with Russia.

The 80-year-old senator’s brain cancer diagnosis prompted scores of virtue-signaling posts, praising McCain for “standing up” to Trump and his age-old defense for former President Barack Obama. While he is certainly no Democrat, the posts suggested he was “their” kind of Republican – that is, one who is malleable enough to give them what they want.

Of course, now that the senator has returned to work on health care reform, scorn for the moderate Republican is suddenly back in fashion.

A quick look at the meme to left shows McCain rushing back to the Senate for the sole purpose of stripping Americans of their health care coverage – ignoring the fact that many only have a plan because Barack Obama’s law forced them to purchase one.

All of this underscores the fact that there was never any genuine level of bipartisan respect for McCain coming from the left. Praising McCain is simply a way to stick it to Trump supporters, and conservatives at large.
