The Biggest Contradiction in the Left’s View on Guns

This meme demonstrates exactly why it’s hard to take the left seriously on guns.

With the past few years plagued by mass shootings conducted by private citizens, the idea that police officers and military personnel should be the only people allowed to carry weapons is becoming an increasingly popular position. Strangely, this stance is often promoted by the same camp that believes police brutality is a national phenomenon.

For the sake of this argument, let’s assume the left is correct about police brutality, and that law enforcement agencies throughout the country are built on some sort of systemic racism that leads to more people of color being incarcerated or killed. If this was really true, why would you want the same people having a monopoly on firearm rights?

By the same logic, why would you want the military, which is apparently commanded by an alleged racist and dictator in President Trump, to enjoy that same privilege?

Tyranny and police brutality are the exact reasons why the Second Amendment was drafted in the first place. America was born out of an armed resistance to both of these things, and that’s precisely why the Founders intended to keep private citizens armed.
