Suddenly, Liberals Hate Neil deGrasse Tyson

Neil deGrasse Tyson was, until very recently, one of the left’s favorite people to quote. His face was on their memes. He enjoyed prominent speaking engagements at leftist universities. He happily spoke out in favor of the climate change agenda.

The astrophysicist could seemingly do no wrong, except speak common sense, apparently. After a round of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio led to the deaths of dozens, Tyson tweeted out a call for calm — beckoning his followers to refrain from knee-jerk reactions. As he correctly points out, deaths to mass shootings are of course tragic, but pale in comparison to other causes.

You see, the left wasn’t in the mood for facts after the mass shootings. They wanted to return fire, so to speak. They proved this by incorrectly assuming that both mass shooters were somehow in league with one another, despite the fact that one was in fact a right-wing extremist and the other supported ‘The Squad’ and wanted to vote for Elizabeth Warren. The facts didn’t add up, but the facts didn’t matter.

Weirdly, the mainstream media felt the need to add more fuel to the fire by adding a third mass shooting to the weekend tally. Since it was from Chicago, however, it was curious — because those are relatively common place in the Democrat-controlled city.

So, there’s a lot to take in from the news over the weekend. We can only hope more of the blue checkmarks follow Tyson’s example, and put reason before screeching emotion.
