Socialism Looks VERY Different in Practice Than it Does in Theory

When you were in pre-school, you might remember getting into disputes with other students over who gets to sit on a swing, play with a do, or go down a slide — or really anything because kids are chaotic as a general rule.

Typically, the response from the teacher is to overlook who was at fault in the first place, and reprimand everyone involved with any troublemaking. You might’ve also been told just to “share” whatever resource you were arguing over, and peace on the playground resumes — right?

This is basically what most millennials think socialism is. None of them lived in a world where the Soviet Union and its communist satellite states posed an existential threat to the entire capitalist West. They didn’t see what socialism did to once prosperous countries. So, the cushy version of socialism pushed by the likes of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the trendy thing right now — because they knew nothing else.

The truth is that there has never been a socialist state that operates like a preschool — unless you replace “timeout” with a gulag.
