Shouldn’t Pocahontas Actually Oppose Gun Control?

When the Evil White European Man arrived in the New World, he defeated the Totally Innocent and Not at All Imperialist Native American Tribes with two things: disease, and firearms.

The first conflicts between colonizing European armies and tribal resistance were absurdly one-sided — one side had access to technology, and one didn’t. Before more tribes began trading and obtaining firearms of their own, it wasn’t even close.

Later on, more native tribes began fielding firearms, and battles became much more deadly for Americans, British, and Spanish soldiers who were still colonizing the New World. Eventually, governments moved to ban these tribal groups from acquiring firearms altogether. You could accurately call it the first form of gun control to impact the western hemisphere.

The moral of the story is that a disarmed population is a vulnerable population. And, just to put this in a way that a leftist might understand, if you truly believe that President Donald Trump is a fascist dictator — you know, “literally Hitler” — why the hell would you want his government to take our guns away? Think about this for as long as you need to…
