Senator Ted Cruz Won the Internet on Halloween

High profile politicians get called a lot of names, and are the butt of a lot of jokes. These days, a lot of this name-calling seems to come from the White House, but that’s besides the point — degrading and defaming people in power is a time-honored tradition in western politics. If you don’t believe us, tune in to the Prime Minister’s Questions — the British are even more brutal than we are in the States.

Most politicians reinforce the stereotype that government officials are gray, humorless drones that sustain themselves only through self-serving plots and taxpayer money. Others, however, are more than willing to get in front of a joke and own it — one of those people is Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Cruz, who is likely to fend off his re-election challenge from Democrat and former drunk driver Beto O’Rourke, has been compared to the Zodiac Killer so many times, that a google search of the infamous villain actually brings up images of the Texas lawmaker. Rather than run from name-calling like a certain progressive from Massachusetts, Cruz was happy to cash in on the joke — this time by posting an image of one of the killer’s infamous coded notes on his social media pages.

Like Cruz or not, this is objectively hilarious.
