Reminder: The AR-15 is Not a ‘Military-Grade’ Weapon

Once again, the AR-15 rifle is back in the crosshairs of every progressive in America following a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The shooter, Nikolas Cruz, reportedly used the weapon to gun down 17 students at a high school and wound a number of others. He is currently in custody.

Naturally, the anti-gun left wasted no time in mobilizing for political action. Their process has become painfully predictable at this point: blame inanimate guns themselves, ignore the rising issue of mental illness, and call for gun owners around the country to surrender their Constitutional rights.

On social media, the argument became flooded with misinformation with posts such as the one to the left, which suggests that active military members use the AR-15 in combat. This is laughably untrue.

The truth is that the AR-15 pales in comparison with actual military-grade rifles, such as the M-14 — a weapon that has an automatic firing capability and improved accuracy. Actual service members wouldn’t be caught dead using an AR-15 in battle, because they would be woefully overwhelmed by enemies wielding far more capable weapons, such as the Soviet-era AK-47 used by many militants and terrorist organizations.
