Nike Decides That Colin Kaepernick is a ‘Hero’ Who ‘Sacrificed Everything’

When it comes to marketing, there are times when corporate American makes truly questionable decisions. Then, there are times when they make downright idiotic moves that have no justifications whatsoever.

The latter is the best way to describe Nike’s new lucrative contract with professional victim Colin Kaepernick, who is best remembered as the guy who when from sitting on the 49ers’ bench to kneeling during the national anthem. According to Nike, this qualifies as “sacrificing everything.”

The utter stupidity of Nike’s move was made clear very quickly, with the company’s shares taking a sharp dip the following morning. Suddenly, there was talk of massive boycotts, combined with typical race-baiting counter-arguments coming from the left. According to Kaepernick’s supporters, ditching your Nike gear over their new advertising strategy is “racist” — it has nothing to do with the fact that Kaepernick is famous for insulting patriotic symbols or anything.

There is simply no other way to put it — Nike made a dumb decision, and now they are paying for it.
