Newsflash: The Founders Were Fully Aware of Automatic Weapons

“The Founding Fathers only wanted civilians to have single-shot muskets! They never could have envisioned a dangerous ‘weapon of war’ like your, uh… AK-87 attack bazooka with the shoulder thing that goes up and its high-capacity magazine clippers!”

How often have you heard that ignorant argument from a gun-grabbing leftist? Ahem! Meet the Puckle gun in this meme!

This was a naval weapon invented long before the Second Amendment, and it is one of the earliest firearms invented that could be classified as a “machine gun” thanks to its operation and 11-shot magazine. It doesn’t fit our modern definition of a machine gun, but you can see the obvious influence that it would later have on the Gatling gun and later iterations of the lotsa-bullets-for-a-fun-time principle.

We would also note that Thomas Jefferson owned a couple of Italian Girardoni rifles with 21-shot magazines.

But whatever, according to leftist gun-grabbers. Facts, history and reason have nothing to do with their desire to take your guns away so they can boss you around.
