Liberals Suddenly Change Their Mind About Flag Protests

Liberals across the United States of America pulled an abrupt about-face on their views towards venerating national symbols in the immediate aftermath of Senator John McCain’s death.

Per federal statute, the Trump administration ordered flags to fly at half-staff after McCain’s death was reported. In accordance with the law, the flag was raised back to the top of the staff after one day of mourning for a member of Congress (which includes the Senate).

Granted, flags have traditionally been kept at half-staff until members of the Senate are buried. The Trump administration probably should have kept to this tradition — if anything for the political ramifications — but it broke no laws by choosing to return the flag to full-staff.

Curiously, the same people who have been arguing that flag reverence is a holdover of fascist traditions had a huge problem with this. These are the same people that took no issue with the NFL’s national anthem protests, or any other overtly anti-American displays which have become all-too-common from the political left since Trump took office.

There is simply no reason to take the left seriously here. They have been slamming patriotism in every form for the better part of the past two decades, so they really have no room to talk.
