Liberal Meme Accidentally Destroys Obamacare

If there’s one thing conservatives and liberals agree on, it’s that corporate subsidies can often prove to be problematic. The difference, however, is that conservatives are typically far more consistent with this critique.

In the image to the left, we see this play out with the assumption that the content creator is targeting things like corporate bailouts or maybe even military contracts. The irony? Obamacare is almost entirely a corporate subsidy law.

In order to make the options available in the Marketplace more “affordable”, Democrats under former President Barack Obama’s leadership voted to subsidize companies to encourage their participation. As you can imagine, all this really did was tamper competition in the actual free market, leading premiums to skyrocket across the board.

Obamacare isn’t the first example of this. Medicaid and Medicare are funded in almost exactly the same way. So, the next time you hear Bernie Sanders talk about “cuts” to these sacred cow programs, keep in mind where the money is actually coming from.
