If Trump is So Bad, Why Did Nancy Pelosi Vote to Give Him More Power?

Perhaps the most confusing part of the Democratic Party platform is their support for government surveillance programs.

While this is certainly not unique to the Democratic Party (Republicans were very hawkish about the Patriot Act), it doesn’t seem to match up with their idea that every Republican who finds his way into the White House is the Devil Incarnate.

For the past year, all we’ve heard from people like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her Senate counterpart Chuck Schumer is that we’re living in an unprecedented age of government corruption. If this is the case, why did they join with Republicans in reauthorizing mass surveillance programs used by the National Security Agency?

If Trump really was the demonic entity Pelosi and other Democrats say he is, why in the world would they willingly vote to give him this much power? The NSA is an executive department, which means it answers directly to the president — rather than Congress.

Then again…maybe their claims about Trump are just a bit slightly exaggerated?
