If Democrats Actually Cared About Hacked Elections

Over the years, Democrats have claimed just about every political victory for the GOP to be illegitimate. This ranges from President Donald Trump’s election in 2016 to Georgia’s gubernatorial election in 2018. They’re never going to get over the fact that a lot of Americans just don’t like them that much.

Of course, these claims are wrought with dishonesty. We don’t even need to cite all the errors in polling, reporting, or Russian conspiracy theories. If Democrats actually cared about keeping our democratic process free and fair, they wouldn’t oppose voter ID laws as virulently as they often do.

The idea behind a voter ID is painfully simple. If you want to participate in shaping public policy, you have to prove that you are in fact qualified to do so. You do the same for things that are far less impactful — such as driving a car, or picking up booze or cigarettes. These are things that shouldn’t be harder that helping pick who gets to run the free world for four years.

Even with the “Russia hacked our election” narrative, there have been zero attempts by Democratic lawmakers to safeguard election integrity. Instead, they’ve focused on undoing the results of the last election. Color us skeptical…
