Comparing Kevin Spacey to Donald Trump is Beyond Foolish

The outrageous and hypocritical defense of Kevin Spacey continues with this gem, grabbed from Twitter account Millennial Politics.

Honestly, the account’s name should tell you enough about where the user stands on virtually everything, but let’s unpack the mental gymnastics on display here anyway.

The fictional president referenced here is Frank Underwood, a devious and cunning politician portrayed by Spacey on the Netflix original program House of Cards. In the show, Underwood is shown manipulating every other character around him to get what he wants, which usually leads to the character amassing even more political power than he previously had.

In the wake of Spacey’s allegations, Netflix decided to cancel the show — a monumental move, considering House of Cards was one of the service’s first original programs.

We can only assume the “higher standard” bit in this post refers to President Donald Trump’s “locker room talk” video, which infamously revealed an off-color conversation between Trump and television presenter Billy Bush. The video was expected to sway public favor away from Trump in the general election against Hillary Clinton. Of course, this did not go as expected.

To compare Trump’s words to Spacey’s actions is to be intellectually dishonest. Trump has had a reputation for simply running his mouth for a long time, but no serious accusation in the same vein as that levied against Spacey has ever come to light.

Liberals really need to learn to pick their battles.
