Celebrating Women’s Day: The Trap of Intersectional Politics

For those of you unaware, last week marked 2018’s “international women’s day” — which was apparently celebrated through seemingly endless virtue signaling on the internet.

The goal, of course, was for left-wing content creators to double down on their favorite feminist talking points, namely things such as the “wage gap” which are just assumed to be true by the bulk of the mainstream media.

But, here’s where this obsession with identity politics lands itself into its own trap. If, as contemporary leftists say, gender is a social construct, than isn’t celebrating national women’s day discriminator to “third genders”? What about individuals who self-identity as fox-kin celestial beings? Where is the day for honoring their experience?

Of course, for those of us who aren’t entirely obsessed over demographic information, social media events like this mean absolutely nothing — and they shouldn’t. The so-called “wage-gap” has been thoroughly debunked a number of times, evidenced by the fact that differences in income are almost entirely linked to lifestyle choices.

All in all, it’s just another day for social media users with a liberal inclination to snatch up a quick dopamine hit by sharing what they think are truth-ridden images.
