Careful What You Wish For — This is What ‘More Government’ Gets You

It’s a phrase that’s been meme’d to death at this point, but it certainly holds true: millennials truly are the first generation in American history to protest for less rights, rather than more.

Following the so-called “national walkout day” — a nation-wide student demonstration supposedly organized to show solidarity with the victims of the Parkland, Florida high school mass shooting — self-appointed teen icons David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez led the charge in imploring authorities to make school safer.

Well, this is what you get. In addition to anti-Second Amendment legislation gaining steam in state legislatures around the country, schools are finding other inventive ways to ensure their own student aren’t a threat to others. Now, where exactly does security trump privacy when new laws are hastily written? Apparently everywhere, as students in South Florida are beginning to learn the hard way.

Parkland students will how be required to bring clear backpacks to school to ensure they aren’t carrying weapons. Is this a clear violation of privacy? Many students probably think so.
