Beto O’Rourke Seems to REALLY Like Losing…A LOT

In 2018, former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke was doing the unthinkable — he was closing the gap with incumbent Senator Ted Cruz during the midterm election. It would have been a stunning and historic sign of change for the state — a hippie Democrat was going to unseat a deeply conservative Republican.

Of course, this didn’t happen. It was one of the most expensive senatorial campaigns in American history, and it resulted in failure. Ted Cruz, who ascended into his position on the back of the Tea Party movement in 2010, would continue to serve in the U.S. Senate. Beto was back to being some new age dude who makes his family eat magic dirt…or something.

But the media didn’t want this to happen. There was no way they were going to let America’s answer to Justin Trudeau — who almost won — to sink into nothingness.

Beto became a celebrity in Democratic politics overnight. At the end of the day, it’s really his only credential for being the Democratic Party’s presidential pick in 2020.
