Self-described socialist Bernie Sanders has made a career out of complaining — in fact, it’s the only thing he’s ever been paid to do throughout his entire adult life.
This time, the millennial favorite is taking the irony to a new level by levying a complaint against something that was partially his fault.
Make no mistake — the government shutdown of January 2018 is almost entirely the fault of Democrats and their allies. The very budget Sanders is referencing here is something he voted against. By his own logic, if he really wanted to keep the government open, he would have voted with the majority party.
Of course, this has never really been about governing — it’s about virtue signaling in an attempt to further rally the media and its viewers against President Trump and Republicans at large.
This is especially humorous, considering the Democratic Party labelled the Republican brand as the “party of no” less than a decade ago when the situation was reversed.
